Service Corporation International (SCI) Corporate - Construction Services Coordinator I in Houston, Texas

Overview & Responsibilities

Responsible for initiating, processing, and maintaining up to date construction documents, invoices, and records. Provides administrative support to immediate supervisor and department. Initiates the coordination of a variety of construction documents, maintains up to date construction paper and electronic files. Initiates obtaining missing or non-compliant documents. Updates and maintains construction status and accounting reports.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

60% Construction Administration

  • Initiates the coordination of a variety of construction documents (such as: proposals, bids, drawings, contracts, location # set up, Construction set up, change orders, capitalization, close-out, accruals, re-class expenses, construction department fee), maintains up to date construction paper and electronic files. Initiates obtaining missing or non-compliant documents. Updates and maintains construction status and accounting reports.

  • Coordinates construction documents and inventory maps for compliance with third party and SCI networks.

  • Notifies locations of any updates to specific cemetery inventory items.

  • Monitors AutoCAD license usage.

  • Assists in roll-up of the cemetery inventory, acreage reporting, and construction budget.

  • Maintains organized and current construction documentation whether paper, electronic, or off-site records management.

40% Administrative Support

  • Screens and routes calls and visitors. Alerts Director to items requiring immediate attention. Serves as department contact and resource for field staff, vendors and contractors.

  • Provides administrative support to the Construction Director and department. Prepares documents, reports, and presentations.

  • Provides complex and varied administrative support. Regularly works with or provides confidential information. Produces a wide variety of departmental reports, literature, etc.,

  • Assists with research and analysis of budget, time and attendance or special projects as assigned. Researches, organizes and compiles information for specialized reports. Coordinates program or project activities.

  • Maintains office supplies and equipment (copier, fax, printers) requesting maintenance/repairs as needed. Prepares courier/mail.

  • Provides back-up support to specific administrative positions as assigned.

  • Participates on Shared Responsibility Teams to achieve broader organizational goals and improve the cost effectiveness of the team as needed.

Requirements & Qualifications

Education:

  • High school degree or GED equivalent required

  • College course work, Associates, or Bachelor degree is a plus

Experience:

  • Must be a self-starter, demonstrate good judgement, and have an assertive attitude to accomplish responsibilities.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Effective communicator and written communication skills. Professional demeanor both over the phone and in person. Strong focus on customer service

  • Good organization skills

  • Proficient technical skills in Microsoft Office - Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel

  • Ability to learn independently, and to translate knowledge into sound office practices, and see guidance as needed

  • Ability to work effectively as a team member and delegate work to other team members when appropriate

  • Ability to self-manage work load, prioritizing work load against deadlines
