We currently have a part time opening for a Funeral Arranger at Whitehurst-Norton-Dias Funeral Service in Turlock, CA . Services client families during funerals visitations, and interment. Assists with caring for the deceased in a respectful manner. Provides customer service in all areas of helping client families following the loss of a loved one. Provides exemplary personalized and professional service. Assists in the implementation of choices made by the families/legal representative regarding the funeral, final disposition of the body and memorialization of the individual. Ensures customer needs are met directly or through appropriately licensed individuals.


  • Performs a variety of tasks during funerals and visitations to assist funeral directors and ensures that services run smoothly as planned

  • Maintains a friendly attitude while offering assistance and guidance to all persons entering the location ring assistance and guidance to all persons entering the location

  • Acts on calls from external customers, including other cemeteries and mortuaries, to provide product and service selections, to include disposition of remains, contracts, and payments

  • Respects families by maintaining a code of confidence, privacy, and professionalism

  • Demonstrates a caring attitude when problems arise while calmly and efficiently bringing the situation to the attention of a staff member who can provide resolution

  • Assists in the movement of the casketed deceased and other related paraphernalia in and out of the visitation area, funeral home, church, or other place of service

  • Offers assistance to mourners as they enter or exit limousines

  • Assists in forming the funeral procession in its proper order while attending and directing traffic on funeral home and/or church parking lots

  • Cleans and drives funeral vehicles in funeral processionsPerforms removals of deceased from hospital, nursing home, or residence to transport to Personal Care Center, or funeral home.

  • May perform removals from morgues, prep rooms, or embalming facilities as well

  • Inspects, stocks, and cleans vehicles before departing

  • Ensures all SCI policies and procedures are carried out for each removal and transfer

  • Other driving services as needed by location

  • Receiving and / or processes payments and/or contracts

  • Preparing and processing Veteran’s Paperwork

  • Acts on calls from client families, external customers, other cemeteries, and mortuaries

  • Composes, edits, and provides obituaries to newspapers and MEM

  • Assists with MEM preparation and service materials, including photo and/or video editing

  • May maintain location website to include accuracy of obituaries, service information, etc.

Requirements & Qualifications


  • High School diploma or GED equivalent


  • Minimum of 3 years related experience as a Funeral Assistant


  • Valid driver’s license

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of religious and fraternal organizations customs.

  • Knowledge of computers and some software including MS Office products required

  • High level of compassion and integrity

  • Good communication skills

  • Problem solving skills

  • Ability to multi task and set priorities

  • Detail oriented
